To all Car Rally enthusiasts!
A Model A rally will take place on Saturday August 26 which will cover a distance of roughly 65 miles and starting out near Cochrane. The rally will start rolling around 09h00 at the small shopping centre at the intersection of Highway 1A and Horse Creek Road (2nd set of traffic lights west of Cochrane). Due to the intentional spacing of vehicles it may take more than one hour to send everyone on their merry way. Instructions along with water will be issued at this departure point.
The route will take you to interesting places and will end up at Weedon Hall on Weedon Trail. It may be tempting for some to take a short cut but bear in mind no prizes will be handed out to anyone not completing the questionnaire. This final location is given to you so as to accommodate individuals who may not be in a position to complete the tour for whatever reason. In any event all participants will be treated to a light lunch served after all have arrived at the final destination, Weedon Hall, which is expected to be between 12:30 and 1pm, depending on the progress with solving clues long the route.
At Weedon hall you will find good facilities such as a full kitchen and washrooms. Soft drinks will be available upon arrival and you may bring your own favourite beverages as well as your choice of food if you are not fond of sandwiches and veggies.
We need to collect a modest fee of $10 per person to cover the cost of prizes, food and hall rental.
In order to meet our hall rental commitment we need an early indication of your intention to participate in this rally. If we don’t reach our numbers we will need to cancel the rental, otherwise we will lose our deposit.
Please send me your response by the end of next week July 8 if you intend to run this rally. I don’t need your entrance fee now, just your commitment. You may chose to pay at the point of departure.
Note our last car rally of 2 years ago was a huge success. I expect a bigger turnout this year.
Hoping to hear from you allby July 8.
Happy Model A’ing
