A Ford Truck versus A Mattress

A Ford Truck And A Mattress

A Mattress caught on the undercarriage of her Ford truck.

The ensuing jumble finally whipped around enough to tear a hole in the fuel tank.  The Subsequent Lack Of Fuel Is What Finally Brought Her Vehicle To Its Knees.

She Had Still Managed To Drive 30 More Miles With A 60-Pound Tangle of Stuff Wrapped Around Her Drive Shaft.

She Had it Towed To Her Ford Dealership And Complained That The Vehicle Had A "Sort Of Shimmy" When She Was Driving At High Speeds.

Below Are The Photos Of What They Found At Her Ford Dealership.

Ya Ha Tinda Ranch - 100 years old

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE !

Plans are underway  to have a discussion of the Ya ha Tinda ranch at our next Model T meeting January 24/18.  I will be giving a short presentation of the ranch, its history, horses, and the 100 year celebration held at the ranch last September.  There will be a number of Park Warden slides of a backcountry trip from Jasper to Banff made a number of years ago, which will show some scenic remote locations travelled along on this three week journey.

Ross and I decided to try something different this month that has nothing to do with Model T 's, except for perhaps reference to the ol' "Bennett Buggies' from the past.     I have also attached an article and video link on the unique and special horses trained at the ranch.

Norther Lights Tour

Hello Foothills Model T Club Members

As you may know, the Alberta Region of the Horseless Carriage Club of America is running the Northern "Brass" LightsTour out of Sherwood Park next week, Sunday Aug 13 through Thursday Aug 17.

The HCCA is exclusively for pre-1916 vehicles, and we expect some 37 cars to descend upon the Edmonton area from as far away as BC, California, Arizona, Manitoba, Wyoming, Ontario and Massachusetts.

Many will be Model Ts of course, but our registered vehicles also include Buick, Oakland, White, Overland, KisselKar (can you believe that?), Hudson, Chalmers, Cadillac, Northern and even a Bugatti!

We are inviting all our Foothills friends and members to come out, see the cars, chat with the owners, take pictures, and experience what may be the largest gathering of exclusively pre-1916 cars in this area for over 100 years.

We'll be out driving every day (332 miles total) but there still some excellent opportunities to get up close and personal with the cars...

At the Tour Hotel  Hampton Inn, 950 Emerald Dr, Sherwood Park (Highway 16 and Sherwood Drive exit)

Monday Aug 14 through Thursday Aug 17 the cars will gather in the parking lot starting around 7:30 AM. Our drivers' meeting is at 8:00 with departure a few minutes later. It's always great fun to see and hear the cars as they leave the lot and head off up the road. You're also welcome to follow along for a ways once we leave.

Sunday Aug 13 is a short "shakedown" tour to Katie's Crossing for ice cream. Many but not all the cars will be on this pre-tour which leaves the hotel shortly after 3:00.

Strathcona Wilderness Centre  Our morning coffee stop about 9:30-10:30 Monday Aug 14. Free admission. Located 20 minutes east of Sherwood Park on Baseline Road (Township Road 530) and Range Road 212.

Ukrainian Village Parking Lot  We'll be here Noon to 2:30 Tuesday Aug 15. Paid admission required for parking lot access.

Reynolds Alberta Museum Parking Lot  Noon to 3:00 Wednesday Aug 16. Paid admission required for museum access.

Fort Edmonton Blatchford Hanger Field  11:30ish to 2:15 Thursday Aug 17. Paid admission required for Park access.

Hope to see you at least once this coming week!
